Students listened to the story of the rainbow fish—a fish that had so many colorful scales, and eventually shared them with the other fish around him. They each created their own unique fish, then each student got to add their own glittery touch (to have a unique scale, too)!

Students brought together all of the techniques learned in Elementary school to create this final project. Students used pattern and repetition to create a dragon eye, and they learned more advanced techniques of adding value (e.g., stippling, pointalism, hatching, shading, etc.) to prepare them for Middle School art.

Students learned how to make a coil and how to roll a coil for this project, then created a snail after learning about snails and slugs.

Students learned how to create a flip book where each separate drawing connected to the previous drawing, to create a "crazy body."

Students learned about what functional art is, and how to create a ceramic pot made out of coils by using blending and slip-and-score methods to attach pieces together.

Students learned about foreground, middleground, and background and how to use paper shapes to create recognizable objects, such as plants, clouds, animals, and other parts of a landscape. Students also learned about adding detail and texture to an artwork.

Students learned about puppets and how to make a simple puppet out of felt by cutting out pieces, gluing them on, then the teacher glued the two bases together to create a puppet!
