Hand pinched, pressed, and coiled earthenware, with terra sigillata. Also with felt and moss. This piece is about God's desire to have his children close to him, like a mother hen who protects her chicks under her wing. It speaks about the protective and loving nature of God. This was made during a time when I was growing in my understanding of God being like the perfect father.

Sewn fabric with hand-felted eyes and a ring. Made to sit on the chair sculpture, this portrays my relationship with God. I am small, weak, and often foolish—yet, God still meets me every day with his loving mercy and grace. This is a replica of the chair in my room, where I spend time with God. The chair is coil-built earthenware with terra sigillata.

Hand-built earthenware, with acrylic paint. Other materials include fake dirt, grass, wood, and fabric for a mixed medium sculpture. This piece is about the moment I gave my life to Christ, after 22 years of life, finally recognizing my need for him. There are 22 arrows in the sheep, each symbolizing a year in my life leading up to the point where I recognized my desparate need for God. The green grass in the fire represents how there is actually greener grass on the other side of the fire—which does not burn the grass. The fire represents God, who describes himself as a consuming fire who is rich in mercy and abounding in love.

Slab build structures with hand-built furniture. Red underglaze was applied to the furniture to create a deep contrast and symbolize the blood Jesus shed to save the world and bring us into relationship with him. The green moss symbolizes the life that we've been given. There are 3 meanings to this artwork: 1) Christians are in God's family and he is making us an eternal home with himself, 2) God lives within Christians and has made his home in us, and 3) Christians are being made new (construction in rooms, boxes, etc.) and are growing in relationship with God through new experiences and time spent with him.

Coil-built earthenware, with terra sigillata.
